Creative Partnership Gets Americans Moving on Heart Health, One Step and Bite at a Time
In honor of American Heart Month, the Hass Avocado Board (HAB) continued its partnership with the nonprofit Walk with a Doc (WWAD), tapping into their extensive network of over 28,000 current and future healthcare professionals and walkers to highlight the importance of investing in heart health through nutrition, movement and community.
Energized by Fresh Avocados – Love One Today®, the two-week virtual walk through the picturesque Hawaiian Islands offered participants inspiration to show a little extra love for their heart through avocado recipes, educational tools, and walking. Promotion motivated followers to embrace easy and sustainable health habits like getting in more steps, snacking on fruits like fresh avocados, downloading educational content including the campaign resource which featured HAB research and making connections within their communities. The campaign garnered almost 26,000 engagements from an audience of health professionals and consumers, plus coverage in media outlets such as SheFinds. As safeguarding heart health remains a top concern among Americans, especially as heart conditions are linked to greater risk of severe illness from COVID, the timely messaging made for an impactful public health campaign that resonated well with Love One Today’s key audiences. The virtual walk also created a unique opportunity for the HAB staff to engage and invite board members and industry to join the fun.
The event kicked off with a virtual roundtable featuring five physicians from the WWAD network discussing their expert tips and goals that have helped them and their patients achieve better heart health. The growing body of research supporting avocados as a heart-healthy fruit as well as genuine testimonials of avocado love were highlighted throughout the discussion for an audience of health professionals and consumers.
Dr. David Sabgir, WWAD CEO and board-certified cardiologist, is a highly credible advocate for fresh avocados and a spokesperson for Fresh Avocados – Love One Today®. His expertise will be leveraged throughout the year for media interviews and accredited continued learning opportunities for health professionals.
