HAB has been investing millions of dollars in marketing campaigns that have helped make fresh Hass avocados a part of pop culture. The use of email within HAB’s marketing efforts played an important role to achieve this goal, by allowing us to build a more direct and personal relationship with our audience and “talk” to them on a one-on-one basis about what the Hass Avocado Board (HAB) and Love One Today® do.
In an effort to address both the extraordinary opportunities and the extraordinary challenges the industry faces, the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), with industry participation, has developed BOLD: The Hass Avocado Industry Board Leadership Development Program. Helping the industry face an increasingly complex marketplace with sophisticated problem-solvers, BOLD is designed to develop emerging leaders who are both motivated and equipped to meet those opportunities and challenges.
Early in the new year, the Hass Avocado Board added a Sustainability Task Force to its roster of standing and special committees. During the 5 year (2021-2025) strategic planning process in 2020 the Board of Directors changed the focus of our previous sustainability efforts to that of a more core value program that the Board, and the industry must embrace as we move into the future.
Believe it or not, but the total volume of avocado fruit sold in the U.S. ROSE by 6.1% in 2020, from 2.492 billion pounds in 2019 to 2.644 billion pounds at the end of the year. One could have imagined in late March of this past year, that the industry would be seriously and financially devastated by the public health crisis we have been dealing with and the catastrophic impact it initially had on food distribution, and the dramatic impact that it had, and continues to have on the entire food service industry.
February was American Heart Month and, as in previous years, the Hass Avocado Board engaged with a marketing and communications campaign to promote the nutrition message and raise awareness on how including delicious avocados in everyday healthy eating plans can provide a whole food source of naturally good fats, fiber and other important nutrients that can reduce the risk for heart disease.
Dietary Guidelines for Americans released the last week of December will replace the previous edition and serve as the basis for all nutrition policy in the Federal Government, as well as guide the private sector activities and nutrition education efforts. It also provides the public with the most up-to-date evidence on dietary behaviors that promote health and may help prevent chronic disease.
The Hass Avocado Board Adds an In-House Influencer Marketing Initiative as Part of Its Love One Today® Communications Program
The Hass Avocado Board’s (HAB) job is to make avocados America’s most popular fruit, and it’s working. We have invested millions of dollars in nutrition-focused marketing campaigns that have made Hass avocados part of pop culture. As an integral part of the Love One Today’s communications program, in 2020 HAB established its own influencer program to amplify strategic messages to key audiences that convey not only the unique and flavorful eating experience but also drive public trust in how Hass avocados are healthy.
Long-Term Avocado Purchase Trends Study Reveals Key Trends and Growth Opportunities To Drive Sales of Hass Avocados
The avocado category has experienced substantial retail sales growth over the past four years and ranks as one of the largest fresh produce categories. The Long-Term Avocado Purchase Trends study identifies data-based insights and growth opportunities based on retail avocado shoppers’ long-term purchase trends. This way, avocado retailers and marketers can enhance their marketing strategies with actionable insights into key shopper segments.
We have created the HAB Graphic video “Why Register on HAB.com” to help shed even more light on the site, and to invite all avocado industry stakeholders to join us on our mission to help make avocados America’s favorite fruit. It is a short, information packed, two and a half minutes outlining the features of the site, it’s main elements, both old and new, and presents the site to users highlighting aspects that we hope you find useful and informative.
On Thursday November 19th, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the appointment of 11 members to the Hass Avocado Board (HAB). Appointed are three producer members, three producer alternates, two importer members and two importer alternates to fill three-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2020, and expiring on Oct. 31, 2023, and one producer alternate to fill the remainder of the term which expires on Oct. 31, 2021.
As we rolled out our HAB Quality Manual early in 2020 – the feedback from the industry was terrific.
