Celebrating 5 Years of HAB Happenings

We were looking back over some of our earlier HAB Happenings posts, and we realized that we had just passed a milestone that we thought was worth celebrating!

Yes, we wrote the first post of HAB Happenings on July 31st, 2019, celebrating our newly written and released Country Report on Peru, written in collaboration with our partners at CIRAD. So yes, HH was born five years ago, with a direction, but not clearly a mandate.

When we started the ideation process on how to get information in story form out to our stakeholders all over the avocado globe, we thought, why not write a bi-monthly column to outline and highlight the work of HAB, feature the work of our program managers, and try to inform our stakeholders all over the globe about what we do with the 15% of the assessments that the HAPRIO organizations share with HAB?

Over those five years, we have informed you about Nutrition, Marketing and Communications, Business Tools and Information, and much more. We have developed a “Year in Review” post annually that tends to be one of our most popular posts. We have highlighted new Country Reports, Webinars, updates on the HAB Board and its members, insights into activities relating to BOLD, stories about two five-year evaluations that we have executed over these years, and even celebrated National Avocado Day, and National Guacamole Day! We have talked about health and wellness, how our consumer’s pathway to purchase affects all of us, reported on Sustainability and its impact now and into the future, and even helped the California Avocado Society celebrate its 105th Anniversary, with a story on that incredible institution.

The reporting has been done with an eye on making what we all do fun, informative, and enjoyable as we related stories about the work that we all do in this incredible industry we all cherish.

We hope all of our readers have enjoyed the stories as much as we have all enjoyed writing them. We promise to keep on posting these chronicles, as we think it is important to have a narrative of what we do, how we do it, our collective focus on growing demand for Hass avocados in the U.S marketplace, and how the positive nature of the work we do is leading us all to our ultimate goal – making Hass avocados America’s favorite fruit!!

Here’s to another five years…
