The BOLD Program

Join us at BOLD – the Avocado Industry BOard Leadership Development program. The application period for the 2025 Class is now open and actively taking qualified applications for this year’s class of future avocado industry leaders.

What is BOLD?

The Hass Avocado Industry Board Leadership Development Program is designed to develop emerging leaders in the industry. This year-long program is entering its fifth year and has already inspired 50 BOLD graduates of the program in our first four years, to become full-throated advocates for this great industry, one that they appreciate and support.

Why BOLD?

The Hass avocado industry faces both extraordinary opportunities and extraordinary challenges. Individuals who want to make a difference in the industry they love need a productive pathway to do so. Boards need a continuous infusion of well-rounded professional perspectives to help them stay ahead of market opportunities and to address industry challenges. The industry needs to face an increasingly complex marketplace with increasingly sophisticated problem-solvers.

What you can expect:

BOLD increases participants’ understanding of board member responsibilities, avocado research and marketing functions, finance and fiduciary obligations, board structure and membership, regulation, and governance, among other things. Participants are also paired with knowledgeable industry mentors for the entire year, gaining support and knowledge from someone who is or has sat on an industry board!
