Applications for the 2023 BOLD Program Are Now Open Through the Month of January

The Hass Avocado Board has opened the application process for Class 3 of the Board Leadership Development (BOLD) program. Participants engage in a robust, yearlong program (April 2023 – March 2024) that includes customized trainings on essential knowledge that is key to being considered board-ready for the Hass Avocado Board, California Avocado Commission (CAC), Mexican Hass Avocado Importer Association (MHAIA), Peruvian Avocado Commission (PAC), Colombia Avocado Board (CAB), and Chilean Avocado Importers Association (CAIA). Interested candidates should visit HassAvocadoBoard.com/BOLD before January 31 to apply for one of the twelve open seats.

The curriculum includes in-depth modules prepared by industry leaders and the HAB Executive Team on topics from finance and fiduciary duties to understanding the role of nutrition research and marketing functions. In addition, BOLD participants will participate in high-quality, real-world experiences like sitting in on actual board meetings and in-person, on-campus instruction at the University of California Davis. This year, exciting new elements, including a trip to Washington D.C. to meet with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are in review and contribute to the unique value of this training program designed to develop emerging industry leaders. Upon graduation, individuals will have received extensive education, career-building networking opportunities as well as rich insights from mentors that would otherwise take years to compile.

To be considered, applicants must be either a producer of Hass avocados that can be distributed in the U.S. or an importer of avocados in the U.S. and qualified to sit on a U.S. avocado association board of directors. If selected, applicants will be informed in late March by the avocado association board that will be sponsoring their participation in BOLD and begin preparations for the program kick-off in April.
