Avocado Nutrition Research and Resources Featured During a Top Continuing Education Event for Nutrition Professionals
Continuing education events are top sources of new information for health professionals, according to HAB’s 2022 HP Tracker data, and this year, Love One Today established a presence at the Today’s Dietitian Spring Symposium to increase awareness of science-based resources for registered dietitians (RDs) and Avocado Nutrition Center research. Held in Savannah Georgia over four days, the symposium provided RDs and other nutrition professionals with education sessions from subject matter experts who delivered tools and tips to help expand attendees’ nutrition knowledge.
As heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the United States, Love One Today ambassador Dr. Wendy Bazilian discussed how lifestyle behaviors, like healthy eating patterns, can help to reduce the risk of heart disease during a sponsored breakfast session. Sharing research on the impact that fruits and vegetables, fat, and fiber have on heart health – all components of fresh avocados – Dr. Bazilian also highlighted findings of The Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial (HAT), which examined the value of forming a habit of eating one fresh avocado daily. The breakfast menu strategically featured avocados in unique ways to showcase their versatility, including Love One Today’s recipes of Mexican Hot Chocolate Avocado Muffin, Green Power Smoothie, and an Avocado Crema served with Stone Ground Grits.
The session concluded with practical ways the over 200 engaged audience members can advise and support their clients and patients, especially in a world increasingly filled with nutrition misinformation from social media.
In addition, nutrition professionals who were not able to attend the symposium in person will be able to view a recording of the session starting later this year on the Today’s Dietitian continuing education library, allowing Love One Today’s messages to reach more health professionals.
